I have been working with clients and researching the body in contemplative and movement practices for over 20 years. I teach a clinically adapted form of yoga, as well as Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), and a research-informed method of mindfulness practice I developed with colleagues at Wesleyan University. This latter method was designed for the unique lifestyles of emerging adults. As a researcher I am interested in how individuals make meaning within institutions through practices of embodiment, and how systems of oppression leave impressions on individual bodies. My academic interests include intersectional feminist pedagogies and practices, contemplative pedagogy, non-formal learning, and progressive education. I have taught at Lesley University, Simmons College, Bay Path University, and as an instructor and consultant for contemplative pedagogy at Wesleyan. I teach private, group, and corporate yoga and meditation classes in New York and Connecticut, and I do independent research in education.
